Meet Dr. Barry Shapero

Dr. Shapero has been helping patients in Newmarket and the surrounding vicinity for many years to achieve the beautiful smiles and lifelong dental health they deserve. He enjoys working with patients of all ages, and gladly welcomes the challenges and rewards experienced with each different orthodontic case.

No two smiles are the same, and this goes for Dr. Shapero’s treatments as well. He knows and understands the needs and expectations of his patients, and is dedicated to providing personalized orthodontic care for each patient he treats. Dr. Shapero looks forward to working with you, and helping you achieve the beautiful, healthy smile you deserve.

Dr. Shapero enjoys seeing the positive impact that quality orthodontic treatment can have on a person, which ultimately can help define the direction of his or her future. He truly loves being an orthodontist, seeing the exciting end results, and having the chance to work with so many amazing people.

Dr. Shapero grew up in Toronto, and attended school in and around the Toronto area. He received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Dentistry. He continued his education at the University of Toronto, where he also received his diploma in orthodontics.

In addition to his formal dental education and training, Dr. Shapero frequently participates in additional courses through continuing education, so as to ensure his treatments are in keeping with the most current technology. Over the years, these courses have helped him simplify his care to be as gentle and effective as possible, while using new technology and offering his patients a variety of treatment options other than traditional braces and retainers.

Of all the continuing education courses, he has found the ones that combine holistic principles into orthodontic treatment to be the most useful. Dr. Shapero is a member of several orthodontic and dental organizations, including:

  • York Region Dental Society (past president)
  • Canadian, American, and Ontario Associations of Orthodontists
  • Toronto Orthodontic Club

His involvement in these organizations provides him with endless opportunities for continuing education. Dr. Shapero has also taught orthodontics to undergraduate dental students at the University of Toronto, and he has been featured several times on a local radio show over the last couple of years.

Outside the Office

When he’s away from the practice, Dr. Shapero likes to spend time with his family. He and his wife Judith live just north of Toronto, and he feels proud to be a true Toronto native, born and raised.
